I had uterine cancer

A friend of mine died this morning. This has made me reflect on my life. I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in Sept. 2003. I was told prior to this diagnosis that I was fine. Odd bleeding for several years was summed up to me being pre- menopausal. I accepted this diagnosis even though I felt like something was wrong. I just want to say if you think there is something wrong there might be. Abnormal bleeding is never normal. I had always had abnormal periods. A few years ago however they became regular and then I was getting my period every couple of weeks. Sometimes a few days after my period I would have a huge gush of blood. I kept up on regular pap smears (all normal) by the way pap smears will not detect uterine cancer unless it has already spread to the cervix. I finally went to get more extensive tests. My new doctor did a biopsy he said my uterus looked normal. The biopsy came back abnormal but no cancer!!!!!! I was very relieved. I had an ultra sound they said my uterus was normal shape, size and thickness for a 43 year old woman who had 3 prenancies. I opted to get a uterine ablation (uterine burned) to stop the bleeding. Thank goodness my doctor did a D&C at that time as well. It came back with cancer. It was a slow growing cancer but it had started to make it's way through the uterine muscle. I had a complete hysterectomy and my lab report said I had endometriosis ( which I had been told by several doctors that I did not have) fibroid cysts, cancer, and cysts blocking one of my falopian tubes. My doctor actually told me my uterus was a buffet of diseases. I am writing this because I don't want any woman to go through this nightmare. I just read Evelyn Reid's story and it scared me. And it shocked me. I also took chlomid trying to get pregnant in 1982. I was never asked if I had taken any fertility drugs. Please don't listen to a doctors oppinion make them do tests and more than one. Do what you need to do to protect your health and your life.
