I just replied to another forum about a similar subject.

First, I suggest that you speak with your doctor about your birth control options here, because she is your most important resource for health information. Additionally, she is familiar, or will soon become familiar, with your particular case, your allergies and your conditions, so she will be able to find the best brith control option for you.

In terms of popular birth control methods here, the first are intra-uterine devices, which are objects placed in your cervix that prevent pregnancy. These include Mirena and NuvaRing, which are relatively new. Mirena is only recommended for those who have already had children, and NuvaRing is for anyone.

There is a patch that exists called OrthoEvra, which transdermally transmits VERY high levels of hormone. There has been a huge lawsuit over this drug because the hormone levels are so high that it causes blood clots. I had some issues with this drug as well.

There are literally hundreds of birth control pills available here, ranging from regular dosage to extremely low dosage. I am on LowEstrin 24, which is the lowest hormone dosage available, and is a pack of 24 pills, so you only menstruate for 4 days. I have a friend who is on Ocella, which she likes very much.
