Hi Jill, did you have your consultation yet? The HTA procedure is highly effective, but keep in mind it has nothing to do with tying your tubes. That is a totally separate procedure, but it can be done at the same time as the HTA...make sure your surgical consent has both procedures listed. Good luck! Kim

thanks for the reply, it is not the same dr doing this. I am hoping in my situation they will automatically tie/cut/burn my tubes again while they have me there. I was told they would put me to sleep while they did this. I still have to go for my consultation so maybe they will explain more to me then, im just nervous about the whole thing, but also excited on the same hand thinking about all the relief I will be getting monthly!!

Hi Jill, First of all, I hope the Dr. that is doing the HTA is not the same one that did your tubal ligation. The HTA procedure has nothing to do with tying or closing your fallopian tubes. In fact, a patient should be told NOT to have any more pregnancies after having the HTA done. I recommend you getting the tubes ligated before doing the HTA, or have them ligated at the same time you have the HTA done. Once the HTA is performed, you should have little to no monthly periods. It is a nice procedure. But take care of getting those tubes closed as well. Hope this helped......Kim, RN, BSN, GYN Team Leader

I recently went to the Dr for my periods. They are wanting me to have the HTA procedure. I had my tubes tied(burnt) about 7 years ago but that failed and now I have a wonderful 4 year old. Lately I have been having problems with my periods, etc.I know one side is still open and the other side is closed. How will they do this? Will they cut out my tubes this time? Thanks for any info you all can give me. Its nice not to be alone.Jill
